The via ferrata Mesules or Pössnecker in german, is the oldest via ferrata in the Dolomites – Sellagroup. It was built in 1912. This via ferrata is difficulty and very long.

It takes a line through the NW Face of Piz Ciavaces in the Sella group.
The first 250m up the splendid vertical wall are airy and demanding but the difficulties ease off once the characteristic ledge at half-height is reached. The ferrate is one of the most beautiful in the area and consequently extremely popular.

Steep and exposed, general fitness required to reach the ledge at mid-height. In the shade throughout the morning, wrap up warm therefore.

This via ferrata should only be climbd after an easier via ferrata in the Dolomites. For example ferrata Tridentina.
