The Ortles-Cevedale group is an alpenstock which is 50 km long and 40 km wide and includes nearly 100 glaciers. You reach the Cevedale peak through its normal route. As most of the paths traverse the glacier, you need to carry high alpine equipment. This glacier tour is a good beginner’s route for the more difficult Ortler, the highest mountain in the eastern alps.
The normal route in two days:
1.day:
meeting point 10 a.m. a Sulden/ Solda. We will take the Sulden gondola to the refuge “Città di Milano”, from here we go on the glacier to the Casati refuge in 2 1/2 – 3 hours. Track ascend 675 m. Overnight. For booking look Casati
2.day:
we start early in the morning on the glacier and arrive with a last steep ascent in about 2 1/2 hours the top. Track ascend 515 m. Now we descend about 1200 m to the upper cableway station.
Every saturday the cableway Sulden/solda starts earlier at 7 a.m. That’s why the ascent to the Cevedale can be done in one day. In ascend you must do 1200 m. A prerequisite is a very good physical condition. Total about 7-8 hours. Cost: 130 € per person, min. 3 partecipants.
