HUT-TO-HUT HIKING AROUND THE CATINACCIO 3 days

This three-day hut to hut hiking  leads through a fascinating rocky landscape in the heart of the Sciliar – Catinaccio Nature Park.
This crossing of the Dolomites is suitable for every mountain hiker who hikes about 3 – 4 hours a day. Surefootedness is required in some areas.

In the evening we relax with a good dinner at the refuge and enjoy the evening silence on the mountain.

Program hut to hut hiking in the Catinaccio – Rosengarten:
1 day:
Meeting point: Bolzano railway station at 8.30 a.m. We take the public bus to the Frommer Alm on the Niger Pass.
We take the chairlift to the Kölnerhut. Then it goes over the Tschagerjoch 2630 m and the Baumannpass on to the Preusshut and Vajoletthut.
After a short rest, we continue for about 1 hour and we reach the Grasleitenpasshut, where we spend the night.
Total walking time: 3 hours, ascent: 640 m, descent: 430 m.
2 day:
from the Grasleitenpasshut we continue to the Antermojapass and then we descend to the crystal-clear Lake Antermoia. Now it goes past the refuge of the same name and on to the Dona Pass.
Now we descend over the Ciaregole Pass to the Micheluzzi Hut. We spend the night at 1,860 m today.
Total walking time: 4.30 hours, ascent: 400 m, descent: 650 m.
3 day:
from the Micheluzzi hut it goes up to the Plattkofel hut at 2,300 m, and further along the Friedrich August path to the Sandro-Pertini hut. Continuing along the foot of the Sassolungo massif, we reach the Sellajoch;Final stop of our alpine crossing.
Now the public bus takes us back to Bolzano, arrival at 5pm.
Total walking time: 3.30 – 4 hours, ascent: 550 m, descent: 300 m.
