The via ferrata Santner is one of the most classic fix aid climbing routes in the Dolomites. It’s a long hike with a nice via ferrata.
The most beautiful ascent to Catinaccio surrounded by rough walls and peaks offering a splendid view.
The beautiful via ferrata is secured with steel ropes, iron hooks and ladders.
It leads you through small gullies and narrow passes, the most challenging of which is the “Ice Gully”, a small gully which is often covered in hard-packed snow even in August.
Due to risk of landslides, this route should only be climbed uphill and not downhill.
After you leave the Ferrata you reach the Santner Hut at 2734m. Take path no. 542 to the rifugio Re Alberto / Gartlhütte. Through the Vajolet valley and the Passo delle Coronelle/Tschagerjoch back via 550 to the Coronelle Hut.
